On Sunday the 23rd of April, 2017, we took our breakfast and organized ourselves to leave for the mountains.
At 11:00 am, our all caring mum drove us to Siviez of about 1730m high the mountain and bought tickets for us to pick the cable lift. When we got there, we took the chair lift to Tortin of about 2050m high the mountain, we realised the snow was melting at that point because we could see small small rivers of melting snow. We then took the cable lift to Col des Gentianes of about 2950m high the mountain and there we could see lots of snow. We took some pictures with some skier and it was fun. How beautiful that was, the creation of God was superb. What I saw made me believed that high mountains are the cathederal of God.
Not staying there only, we took the cable lift to another higher height of about 3300m high the mountain and this place is called Mont Fort which means Strong Mountain. We saw lots of snow there to, we had a meal there, we took some nice soup and bread prepared by this friendly woman. Mum Ruth, Emmanuel and I played with the snow by hitting ourselves with the snow, it was really fun. We stayed there for a while, we met this american woman who works with the UN but she stays in Qatar and she came there purposely to ski, she was called Margeret.
We took the cable lift back to Col des Gentianes, we skied for some time on a plastic rubber and it was really excited. From here, we took the biggest cable lift which could carry about 150 persons plus the controller to a lower height of about 2260m called La Chaux at the other side. There we meet a professional skier named Berni who told us more about the biggest cable lift we took and he said it was the biggest in europe for about 10 years ago and he was very nice to us. From there we came back to Col de Gentianes with the biggest cable lift back to Tortin with some school children who came to ski and came back to Siviez with the chair lift.
When we arrived there, we meet this technical engineer who was in charge of the whole control system there and he took us into the operating rooms where they have their big machines that controls the chair lift and everything there. He spoke about how frequencies are changed to regulate the speed of the cable and chair lift. He talked about the use of Fiber optics for high speed of communication between the control side and the mechanical side. He told us about the emergency control since they dealing with human lives. He was very happy to meet other engineers from Ghana.
From there our professional driver drove us back to home to Nendaz at 5:00pm, we had our supper and went straight to bed because we had a long tiresome
day.
